Iowa Northland Regional Housing Authority

Instructions

Iowa Northland Regional Housing Authority (INRHA) grants preference to applicant families with dependents under the age of 18, elderly and disabled families who live or work within INRHA’s jurisdiction. INRHA's jurisdiction is Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Grundy and Black Hawk counties with the exception of Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Evansdale. All applicants who qualify for the preference will be placed before applicants on the waiting list who do not qualify for the preference.

When your name reaches the top of the waiting list, you will receive a letter in the mail with instructions to schedule an eligibility appointment. At the eligibility appointment, all information stated on the application will be verified. If INRHA determines that false information was used in order to receive a higher position on the waiting list, your application will be denied and it will be removed from the waiting list. Should there be a change of information that would change your status on the waiting list that is not reported until the appointment, INRHA may return your application back to the waiting list in the correct position.

When you are placed on the waiting list, you will receive written notice of your placement on the list. Applicants are responsible for any change of information being reported to the housing authority. Once the application is accepted, all changes must be submitted in writing to the housing authority.

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR THE PREFERENCE:

If you declare your physical address to be within INRHA’s jurisdiction on your preliminary application, AND you are one of the following: a family with dependents under the age of 18, elderly (62 or above), OR disabled or have a family member in your household who is disabled, you will be granted the preference. When your application comes to the top of the waiting list you will be required to verify you lived within INRHA’s jurisdiction at the time you submitted your application. Acceptable documents include a lease, utility bills, and mail dated from the time of your application.

If you declare you are employed within INRHA’s jurisdiction but your physical address is not within INRHA’s jurisdiction on your preliminary application, AND you are one of the following: a family with dependents under the age of 18, elderly (62 or above), OR disabled or have a family member in your household who is disabled, you may be granted the preference. You must verify your employment within INRHA's jurisdiction when you apply for acceptance onto the waiting list and when your application comes to the top of the waiting list. Acceptable documents include a check stub from the period or a signed statement from the employer confirming your employment.

Applicants who qualify for the preference will be placed before non-qualifying applicants. If you move or change places of employment after applying, promptly notify INRHA. This may greatly affect your position on the waiting list.

If you have any questions regarding the application process, you may contact INRHA at 319-483-5079.
